2010 Pepper Bridge Merlot
2010 was a very unique vintage in Washington State, but particularly in Pepper Bridge Vineyard in Walla Walla. A cool growing season led to some difficult vineyard decisions. In order to make the best wine a significantly smaller crop was cultivated. This growing decision led to a wine that's intense and high toned with beautiful vanilla and subtle black licorice notes. Despite the cool year the flavors are ripe (and not so herbal as one might expect from such a year), due to good vineyard and winemaking decisions. Like a satisfying meal this wine has an enticing nose, hits all the right notes in the mouth, and finishes smooth and satisfying. This wine is unfined and unfiltered, so don’t be surprised (or worried) if you find sediment.
