2024 Murray Rosé
Tasting notes
This is summer sunshine in a bottle with a beautiful coral color and aromas of red currant and strawberry mingled with that signature flinty Red Mountain mineral component to the nose. The smooth, long finish garners plushness from short-term aging in neutral oak barrels.
Production notes
We pick these grapes specifically for our rosé from the Mother Block (Tim's Mom's) vineyard. You might think that with its intense color it spends a lot of time on the skins before being pressed, but actually it is pressed as soon as the press is full. All that beautiful color is just what naturally occurs here on Red Mountain. We then ferment the wine slowly in neutral oak barrels for about 30 days!

Red Mountain AVA 100%
J. Hightower "Mother Block" Vineyard 100%
Jackie Hightower—Tim’s mom—moved to Red Mountain shortly after we did and made the bold decision to plant grapes of her own. A longtime admirer of Côte-Rôtie–style Syrah, she planted her acreage to Rhône varietals, including Syrah, Viognier, and Grenache. Her vineyard is affectionately known as the “Mother Block.”
Like our Estate Vineyard, rows are canted eleven degrees off of north-south. This orientation more evenly balances the sun exposure on each side of the vine row, increasing the exposure on the east and decreasing it on the west.
This coral-hued rosé brings bright aromas of red currant and strawberry, with a subtle hint of Red Mountain's flinty character. Fermented in neutral oak, it has a smooth, rounded finish that pairs beautifully with everything form light bites to heartier meals.

Tim & Kelly Hightower
Tim and Kelly Hightower founded Hightower Cellars in 1997 in Woodinville, Washington with a simple philosophy: "Get the best grapes and don't screw them up." With their grape supply primarily coming from Red Mountain, the husband and wife co-winemaking team set out to make high quality wine, beginning with their first vintage: 221 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Today Tim and Kelly aim to make wine that lets the powerful, concentrated fruit from Red Mountain speak for itself, producing wine with great character, that’s naturally beautiful and free from pretense. The result is a collection of well-balanced, nuanced wines that reveal something new and interesting each time you open a bottle. We like to think they’re wines with character through and through – in how they were made, how they taste, and in the connections they inspire.
